  • Camila Cabello is a Cuban singer who has struggled with the issue of body image and body insecurities in her past for many times now during the past few years. She is a very beautiful woman, which does not suit 100% today's perfect body size and shape, which many people cannot comprehend and tend to spread hate and messages like that her body type is not normal (which it, by the way, totally is).

  • A couple of days ago, Camila shared a screenshot of a long message which she paired with a selfie in which she seemed frustrated and over the whole situation. She then described what happened to her at an unnamed Miami beach, and shared her frustration with her followers on Instagram (I attached the screenshot of her post under this article, so everyone can see and read through it). Camila then mentioned that she had a cute outfit with a new bikini, and claimed that she didn't eat anything heavy before she went into the water because she knew that there were going to be paparazzi taking photos of her in the water. “I held my core so tight my abs hurt and didn’t breathe and barely smiled and was so self conscious of where the paps were the whole time I couldn't let go and relax and do what we’re meant to do when we go out into nature,” she said. • Camila has been open about embracing her body and she has always said that the way her body looks does not determine how healthy, sexy, or happy she is. The only thing that matters is what we feel about ourselves, in our head emotionally and mentally, which is so hard to do and I am so grateful that people like Camila (generally people who have a big fan base) are spreading this message in a positive way. Nowadays we can see a pressure put on women, mostly on younger girls in their teenage years, about what they are supposed to look like and how they are supposed to behave, which sends a very bad message to younger audiences. We need to realize that in this life, we only have one body and we should all learn to love it, cherish it, and embrace all the bad things that we see. Usually, all the things that we don't like about ourselves are the things that on others we would admire the most (at least I do). And that's the irony of it.

  • I am grateful for this body that lets me do what I need to do,” she said. “We are real women with curves and cellulite and stretch marks and fat. And we gotta own that, baby.” (Camila Cabello; Body Image Pressure)

Hey! This is a great example of how the media influences our mental health because of the way we look and I am really happy that someone as big as Camila Cabello is shedding light on a topic like this. I think that this is an issue that many deal with during their life and it is an issue that is quite difficult to deal with since it does impact our mental health more than anything. The media should learn to promote normal body types and really teach us to love ourselves and teach us the right way to improve the way we feel and look at ourselves!
